Eclectic Inspiration – Life on a Leaf

I came across this charming house in this month’s World of Interiors magazine – it’s so unique. The quirky exterior is mirrored inside with the mix of materials, vibrant colours and eclectic mix of furniture – there are some great retro finds in there and the shape of the windows create a retro / abstract feel. This great location is called Life on a Leaf and is the creation of Finnish artist Jan-Erik Andersson. He wanted to break with drab functionalism, creating a quirky ‘ornamental house – a playful referential blend of conceptual art and sinuous organic forms’ reflecting its organic surroundings. It is situated on the edge of a park on Hirvensalo one of Turku’s island surburbs (Southwest coast of Finland) – they are totally private with no neighbours.

It’s a joy to explore – hope you enjoy looking at the pictures as much as I did, and maybe it will inspire you to go on the hunt for some retro / vintage finds…

I especially love this retro collection of lampshades and table and chairs ….
