Vintage caravan Doris is the focal point of a garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, created by a Kent designer for the West Sussex based Caravan club.
Doris is a gorgeous vintage aluminium caravan from the 1950s and Jo Thompson from Marden has used her as a centre piece to her design- she was approached by East Grinstead based caravan club (who are celebrating their 105th anniversary this year) to design a garden to show the good points of caravans. She “We thought it would be quite nice to have a bit of nostalgia, and some new things too, so we’ve got lots of sharp lines.”
Jo’s design has a true English country garden feel with wild cow parsleys, campions and ragged robins -combined with Doris the caravan she creates a sense of English summer nostalgia. A gorgeous reminder of the 1950s – Doris is definitely a Chelsea Flower Show highlight this year.
